Sugammadex Syringes That Save Hospitals Money

Sugammadex Syringes That Save Hospitals Money

In your operating room, time is money. IntegraDose was started to solve a simple hospital need: to get the most commonly compounded medications to patients as quickly, accurately, and efficiently as possible. We get hospitals, because we were created by one.

Reduce Costs in Three Ways

Minimizing Waste

Standard dosing of Sugammadex is 4 mg/kg for deep block and 2 mg/kg for moderate block. With current dosing regimens, many patients may receive a dose that exceeds the necessary amount of drug. For example: a 70 kg adult under moderate block would require a dose of 140 mg of Sugammadex. The care team in this situation may choose to administer 1.4 mL, or the whole 200 mg/2mL vial. This results in the use of excess drug or waste with a cost exceeding $50 per vial. IntegraDose makes a 100 mg/1 mL syringe that could help minimize waste, particularly for smaller adults or pediatric populations.

Dose Optimization

Train of Four (TOF) monitoring in conjunction with lower dosing can provide significant cost savings and provide the ROI to support purchase of a valuable perioperative tool as recommended by the American Society of Anesthesiologists. The University of Minnesota Medical Center has found that roughly 35% of adults can achieve a safe and effective reversal of neuromuscular blockade with 100-mg doses of sugammadex. If the 100 mg dose leaves residual neuromuscular blockade, a second dose can be quickly and easily administered and still be at lower cost than the 2 mL vial.

Flexible Doses

Bridion vials are available in 200 mg/2 mL and 500 mg/5 mL vial sizes. The most commonly used 2 mL vial is priced 36.5% higher per mL than the 5 mL vial (based on AWP). By repackaging the 5 mL vials into labeled 2 mL syringes, health-systems can achieve significant cost savings and increase perioperative staff efficiency. IntegraDose provides a lower-cost pre-labeled syringe with a 120-day room-temperature BUD, saving health systems time and money.
